As a union leader, Chavez led marches, called for boycotts and went on several hunger strikes. 5. As a labor leader, Chavez employed nonviolent means to bring attention to the struggles of farm workers. 6. Finally, after the strike, Cesar signed the agreement for better pay for the workers. |

EARLY LIFE
Cesar Chavez was born on March 31, 1927, near Yuma, Arizona. In the year of 1930, his family lost their only home because of the lack of payments. Many people and his family went to a state (California) and then after a long time of traveling other people and Cesar’s family became migrant farmers. Growing up in a migrant worker family, he saw a lot of people lose their jobs and struggle against racism and poor treatment by the farm owners. He was upset because he saw it as workers didn't have rights and they were never protected.
ACTIVISM
In the 1950's, when Cesar Chavez was much older he became a labor leader and led marches and did lots of protest and he also created a union filled with farm workers. His union was later called “United Farm Workers” and him and his union fought for their rights. During the height of his activism, he because a household name and was featured in many newspapers, magazines. During this time in America, the Civil Rights movement was also taking place. There was a lot of similarities between Cesar Chavez's mission and the goals of the Civil Rights movement, which was to end racism and gain equal rights and opportunity and kind, fair treatment for Black Americas. Theirs was a unique mission but also a joint effort. Cesar Chavez attended and supported many Civil Rights marches and events - and many Civil Rights leaders attended and support Cesar Chavez's events as well. His most famous boycott was the Grape Boycott of 1965.
LATER YEARS / DEATH
Cesar Chavez sadly passed away on April 23, 1993, but before that he achieved his goal by helping out farm workers and doing many protest’s. And he also helped out people and got awarded for many things he did with his union and himself.
